What is the Best Brand of Electric/Battery Window candles?
Circus Peanut hi folks, I’m wondering who has some input on the various brands of electric and/or battery-operated single candlesticks, the type you place in windows during the holidays.
They all seem the same. Are they cheaply manufactured in China? Or are there certain brands that have a more durable or better selection? Any made anywhere else than China.

QVC sent me the Bethelehem Lights candles. They are powered by either a constant-on sensor, a steady-on timer, or batteries. The timer is SO convenient. They turn on when you need them (I use 5:15 pm) and they remain on for 8 hours. Then they start coming on on their own each day, staying on for 8 hours. These antique brass bases are available in both brushed nickel or regular brass. The height can be adjusted according to the window’s sash.
They were $40.00 per set at Christmas 2010, so I bought them in July 2010. I also have 2 sets. They lasted for two weeks, even though I had mine last year. It seems to be 3 C batteries. This light shines really bright.
I have an old set of Walgrens sets for $10.00, which was for four. They had the exact same timer and battery setup, but only lasted for 6 hours. The ones I purchased from QVC were longer lasting and taller than I wanted.

You should also check out Sillites. You can use these outlets to power small areas such as windowsills or any other area that requires an electrical supply. This is what I see being suggested for kitchen islands. They can apparently be retrofitted. While I haven’t personally tried them, it sounds interesting!
In Minnesota the temperature near the window can chill batteries and cause them to not light candles. My only choice was going electric. Timers and something to keep you on time are the way to go!
