It’s actually one of two components recommended by the CDC for mosquito repellents. Picaridin is also recommended by the CDC as a mosquito repellent.
In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2002, researchers compared several types of mosquito repellents head-to-head in laboratory tests. The brave fifteen study volunteers displayed courage by sticking an arm with the mosquito repellent in front of a bunch of hungry bloodsuckers. Researchers took note of the time it took for a mosquito bite to occur.
